Synchron CX Service

Compatible reagents also available

Carolina Chemistries, Brea, Calif, provides support and service on all Beckman Synchron CX® Chemistry systems, including both newer and older models. Service contracts are available, and hourly rates are typically less than that of the OEM. Programs are available where service is provided at no charge with the use of Carolina’s Synchron CX reagents. The company offers the complete line of bar-coded, liquid, ready-to-use reagents in cartridges, plus controls, calibrators, and linearity material, all dedicated for use on Synchron CX/LX systems. Reagents correlate 1:1 with OEM reagents. Esoteric assays such as Homocysteine, Lp(a), and Fructosamine are also available.

Traceable Conductivity Standards

Calibration of conductivity meters

The new Traceable® conductivity standards, a certified reference material, from Control Co, Friendswood, Tex, are compatible with all makes of instruments and probes, and may be used to calibrate all conductivity meters and to determine all conductivity cell constants. Accuracy at 25°C is ±0.25 microsiemens/micromhos for 1, 5, 10 microsiemen/micromho standard or ±0.25% for other standards, or the uncertainty shown on the certificate, whichever is greater. Each bottle is labeled for calibrating conductivity (microsiemens/micromhos), resistivity (ohms), and dissolved solids (parts per million), and is supplied with step-by-step calibration instructions, an individual temperature compensation chart, traceability information, and a Traceable certificate. It is supplied in a 16-ounce bottle.

VITROS 5600

Performs 100+ assays

Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, Raritan, NJ, introduces its FDA-approved VITROS® 5600 Integrated System. The system is designed to integrate clinical chemistry and immunoassay testing to increase laboratory productivity, and can perform more than 100 different chemistry, immunoassay, and infectious disease assays. Its sample-centered processing approach accesses each sample independently and in parallel for chemistry and immunoassay testing. This one tube in, one tube out approach can optimize turnaround time by accounting for variable sample and test mixes, eliminating the need to split the sample on the analyzer or move sample trays between modules. The compact system has no water or drainage requirements.

NanoQuot

Liquid dispensing technology

The NanoQuot™ from BioTek Instruments Inc, Winooski, Vt, uses pressurized solenoid valves for precise liquid dispensing in submicroliter volumes, which offers scientists increased assay throughput and lower reagent expenses. It is useful for transitioning into high-density, low-volume microplate formats while maintaining backward compatibility with existing formats and volumes. Pressure can be regulated for complete dispense accuracy control and to accommodate a range in sample viscosities and well bottom geometries. It dispenses volumes down to 100 nL. Applications include ELISA, cell-based assays, PCR setups, diluent dispensing, compound distribution, compound storage, and compound reformatting.
