Seeking to extend its presence in the field of microbiology, Technidata, Montbonnot, France, has interfaced its laboratory information system (LIS) with WASPLab from the Copan Group, Brescia, Italy.

Designed with feedback from microbiologists, Technidata’s software systems offer a flexible workflow for paperless processes, comprehensive traceability that meets International Organization for Standardization 15189 requirements, and connectivity with widely used instruments and automation technologies.

“Developed in close cooperation with Technidata, the WASPLab driver manages the most comprehensive sets of information available on Technidata’s LIS and middleware solutions, to ensure full traceability and streamlined automated workflows,” says Mario Savarese, chief strategy officer at Copan.

Among the system’s features, a multicriteria epidemiology module enables simple-to-complex data extractions to be applied to nosocomial infections, and historical searches of multidrug-resistant organisms, says Stéphane Agay, product line marketing director and scientific advisor at Technidata.

Additionally, Technidata’s microbiology system offers tools to manage the modern microbiology laboratory, when interfaced with TDBioBank, the company’s biorepository management module.

“We are one of the few software companies that offer such a complete microbiology laboratory information system, one that can also fully manage culture collections,” says Agay.
