One-Sentence Summary:
Thermo Fisher Scientific has launched the 1500 Series Class II, Type A2 Biological Safety Cabinet, enhancing lab safety, user comfort, and operational efficiency with advanced airflow and monitoring technologies.

Three Brief Takeaways:

  1. Enhanced Safety: Features SmartFlow Plus and DAVe Plus technologies for real-time airflow control and monitoring to ensure operator and sample protection.
  2. User-Friendly Design: Ergonomic improvements like the SmartClean front window and intuitive 7-inch touchscreen streamline cleaning and operation.
  3. Energy Efficient: LED lighting and sustainable design reduce energy use and environmental impact.

Thermo Fisher Scientific introduces the Thermo Scientific 1500 Series Class II, Type A2 Biological Safety Cabinet (BSC), a solution designed to provide protection, exceptional user comfort through ergonomic design, and operational convenience.

Tailored to meet the needs of everyday laboratories, as well as those in academic, pharmaceutical and biotechnological segments, the 1500 Series A2 BSC enhances workflow efficiency while upholding the NSF/ANSI49 safety standards, certifying their safety, design and performance. It incorporates advanced features like Thermo Scientific SmartFlow Plus airflow technology that delivers real-time continuous compensation of inflow and downflow and Thermo Scientific Digital Airflow Verification (DAVe Plus) that monitors and alerts the user to out-of-tolerance airflows that could compromise protection for the operator and the sample.

It also features a 7-inch touchscreen monitor with graphical user interface for easy operation and an advanced design, including the Thermo Scientific SmartClean front window design which provides better access for cleaning the cabinet.

1500 Series Builds on Capabilities of 1300 Series

The 1500 Series A2 BSC builds upon the capabilities of its predecessor the popular 1300 Series, incorporating more precise airflow control, and an improved customer experience based on key customer feedback in a refreshed design.

“Biological safety cabinets are vital for laboratory safety and compliance,” says Douglas Wernerspach, senior business director of CO2/BSC in laboratory equipment division at Thermo Fisher Scientific. “The 1500 Series A2 BSC delivers advanced safety features with an intuitive design, empowering users to achieve consistent, efficient, and reliable performance in critical lab environments.”

Applications and Features

Key Applications* include:

  • Cell culture and molecular biology workflows in pharma and biotech
  • Biobanking and sample preparation
  • Bioprocessing and vaccine development
  • Academic and government research

Features/Benefits include:
