The exsig Mag RapidBead Pro kit features a four-step workflow that reduces extraction time to under 20 minutes.
Primerdesign, part of the Novacyt Group, has launched the exsig Mag RapidBead Pro Extraction kit, a magnetic bead-based system designed for DNA and RNA purification from diverse sample types.
The kit uses surface-activated magnetic particles engineered to capture nucleic acids with high affinity. Combined with a single wash step, the technology enables efficient removal of impurities from sample matrices, according to the Manchester, UK-based company.
The extraction system features a four-step workflow that reduces hands-on time compared to traditional methods, completing DNA and RNA extraction in less than 20 minutes. The streamlined protocol is compatible with both manual and automated platforms.
“The release of the exsig Mag RapidBead Pro Extraction Kit is a key advancement in Primerdesign’s molecular workflow portfolio,” says Lyn Rees, CEO of Novacyt, in a release. “The kit sets a new standard for DNA or RNA purification, combining the proven precision and reliability of the exsig Mag Kit with the speed of a next-generation rapid extraction workflow.”
Versatile Sample Compatibility
The extraction kit can process various sample matrices, including human samples, veterinary specimens, water, food and environmental materials. The system is also designed to handle challenging sample types such as stool and serum.
The technology efficiently isolates genetic material from RNA viruses and both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, according to Primerdesign.
The kit is available in two sizes to accommodate varying throughput requirements and is designed to complement Primerdesign’s genesig qPCR kit range, providing an end-to-end molecular testing solution.
Research Use Only
The exsig Mag RapidBead Pro Extraction Kit is available for research use only and can be shipped at ambient temperature worldwide. The reduced workflow complexity is intended to lower contamination risk while maintaining nucleic acid yield and purity for downstream real-time PCR applications.
“It is a cost-efficient, end-to-end solution that delivers superior performance, reduces lab time, and delivers greater flexibility, to help researchers accelerate molecular discovery and pathogen testing from sample to results,” says Rees in a release.
