The financing will support commercialization of the instrument-free Flip platform and expand manufacturing capacity in Cambridge, UK.

Fuse Diagnostics has raised £1 million to advance the commercialization of its proprietary Flip molecular diagnostic platform and scale manufacturing operations at its headquarters in Cambridge, UK, according to a company press release.

The financing round was led by The FSE Group, with participation from both existing and new angel investors, including the Cambridge Capital Group, the company announced. Fuse indicated that the capital will support its efforts to bring molecular diagnostics—traditionally confined to centralized, specialist laboratories—into point-of-need settings.

Expanding Rapid Testing Across Sectors

According to the company, the Flip platform pairs proprietary amplification technology with a disposable, low-cost test design to detect pathogens and contaminants without requiring specialized instrument infrastructure. The instrument-free diagnostic approach is engineered to provide laboratory-quality results while mitigating the equipment burdens, workflow complexity, and turnaround delays tied to centralized testing, the company stated.

Fuse stated that the new funding will accelerate growth of the Flip portfolio across six target areas: life sciences research, bioprocessing, food safety, water quality, veterinary diagnostics, and plant agriculture. In addition to scaling manufacturing, the investment will fund assay pipeline development, partner validation studies, and expanded commercial operations, according to the announcement.

“This funding marks an important step in commercialising our Flip product platform and validating new assays with strategic partners across sectors where rapid, decentralised testing can make a meaningful difference,” says Dr Harry Lamble, CEO of Fuse Diagnostics, in a release. “Built on years of scientific and engineering development, Flip is designed to give researchers faster, simpler tools for detecting pathogens and contaminants, helping to prevent disease and protect products, biological processes and the environment.”

Decentralized Diagnostic Demand

The investment comes amid broader cross-industry interest in decentralizing molecular testing to address point-of-need contamination and infection risks, the investors noted.

“The FSE Group is excited to support the scaling of Fuse’s technology, which has been designed to address sector-specific challenges and meet demand for rapid laboratory-quality diagnostic tests across multiple industries,” says Cheryl Weeks, head of funds South East and East at The FSE Group, in a release. “By combining shared technology, manufacturing and commercial infrastructure with applications beyond traditional healthcare settings, Fuse has the potential to build valuable global partnerships, delivering value and real-world impact.”
