Function Health has launched an app within ChatGPT that enables members to securely share lab result summaries with the AI platform for personalized health insights.
The integration allows Function members to authorize ChatGPT to access high-level summaries of their lab results, which can then inform responses to health-related queries. Members retain control over data access and can revoke permissions at any time.
“Function’s mission is to give our members access to valuable information about their health, while removing complexity and placing privacy first. We know that some members use ChatGPT, and we want to enable our members to seamlessly access their health details wherever they are,” says Jonathan Swerdlin, CEO and co-founder of Function, in a release.
The Function app appears in ChatGPT’s app store and integrates directly within the main chat interface and ChatGPT Health. When members input health-related prompts, ChatGPT can incorporate their personal health data context into responses.
Growing Lab Testing Volume
Since 2023, Function members have completed more than 50 million lab tests. The platform provides access to more than 160 lab tests through biannual testing for $365 per year, compared to typical annual physicals that measure approximately 26 biomarkers.
Function’s testing panel examines heart, hormone, thyroid, liver, and kidney function, along with heavy metal exposure, nutrient levels, inflammation markers, and potential cancer signals. Results are integrated into an interface that provides members with personalized health views.
The company recently unveiled its Medical Intelligence Lab, which brings together clinicians, researchers, and technologists to develop systems that unify data from lab testing, imaging, wearables, IoT devices, and medical records with global medical research and clinical expertise.
