The tool provides real-time support for experiment troubleshooting, protocol optimization, and data analysis within the existing workflow.

Cenevo has launched Labguru Assistant, an AI-enabled extension integrated directly into its Labguru lab management platform to provide scientists with real-time support for daily laboratory work.

The AI assistant is designed specifically for life science complexity, allowing scientists to use natural language to troubleshoot experiments, optimize protocols, compare results across studies, and analyze data. The tool can search a lab’s entire workspace, including electronic lab notebook entries, inventory records, and protocols, while connecting to external scientific databases.

“We created Labguru Assistant with one mission: to bring practical, reliable AI into the hands of scientists,” says Jonathan Gross, chief product officer at Cenevo, in a release. “It’s not a separate system or tool; it’s always on, always in context, and always accountable.”

The launch follows Cenevo research showing 45% of labs plan to implement AI within two years, with three-quarters indicating AI and machine learning will drive significant change by 2026. The company has been investing in AI-enabled lab solutions aimed at providing predictive insights, improving sample tracking and scheduling, reducing human error, and accelerating data interpretation.

Unlike generic chatbots, Labguru Assistant is integrated into the existing platform workflow, eliminating the need for new logins, integrations, or additional software installations. All results are fully auditable and traceable to maintain scientific rigor and compliance requirements.

Beta Feedback

Beta program users provided feedback that helped refine the assistant’s capabilities. Early adopters have used the tool to design new protocols, summarize large datasets, and streamline new team member onboarding, reporting improvements in efficiency, reproducibility, and collaboration.

“The feedback from our beta program was invaluable,” says Gal Haase, vice president of product at Labguru, in a release. “We saw how the Labguru Assistant is already helping teams with everything from designing protocols to summarizing complex datasets.”

The Labguru platform combines electronic lab notebook, laboratory information management system, registry, and inventory management capabilities in a cloud-based environment covering the research-to-production workflow.

Labguru Assistant is now available to research organizations globally. The company indicates this represents its initial step in integrating additional AI functions into its platform solutions.
