Micronic, Lelystad, the Netherlands, has released its new Rack Reader DR710, complete with the intuitive Micronic Code Reader Software. The DR710 is equipped with a deep focus image sensor to ensure the highest accuracy 2D code reading even if the tubes aren’t flush with the scanner plate or codes are partially compromised.

By activating the uniquely designed active anti-frost system on the DR710, ambient air is drawn into the scanner where it is cleaned of dust. Warmed dry air in the scanner prevents condensation on the scanning plate when the scanner is used as described in the Getting Started manual. The DR710 accelerates the processing time of racks with frozen sample tubes.

Optimized for rapid and accurate sample identification, the DR710 can scan and decode a whole rack of 2D Data-Matrix codes in just 7 seconds and a single 96-well format tube in less than 2 seconds. Its small benchtop footprint makes the DR710 an efficient, space saving option for organizing laboratory sample inventory. The new DR710 is compatible with most brands of 2D Data-Matrix coded tubes whether they are in a 96-, 48-, or 24-well format. The reader is flexible in terms of its power supply options. It can be powered via the external power supply or a computer’s USB port, freeing users from the stress of not having the adapter at hand when doing their job. Additionally, the CSV-file output enables users to smoothly integrate the Micronic Code Reader Software into their laboratory information management system (LIMS). The rack reader comes with a 5-year warranty to help minimize its cost of ownership.

The Micronic Side Barcode Reader for the DR700 line can be attached to any side of the Rack Reader DR710 and can decode a 1D rack barcode in less than a second. Compatible with ANSI/SLAS format 1D barcoded racks, the side scanner eliminates the need to manually enter the barcode into the software, saving time for the user and minimizing potential identification errors.
