The direct-to-consumer offering enables US users to order preventive lab testing and access clinical results directly through iPhone and iPad.

Apple Health app users in the US will be able to purchase a tailored laboratory test panel featuring more than 50 biomarkers directly through the app on iPhone and iPad later this year, according to a press release from Quest Diagnostics. The planned integration was first announced by Apple during its September event.

“By embedding the Quest lab testing experience within the Apple Health app, we are making testing simpler, smarter and more available to people who want to connect biomarker and biometric insights to own their health,” says Richard Adams, senior vice president and general manager, consumer, Quest Diagnostics, in a release. “This integration will help bridge the gap between clinical and consumer health and serve the growing interest in preventive health and wellness.”

Biomarker and Biometric Testing Workflow

The laboratory panel is structured to deliver preventive health insights, evaluating key biomarkers related to cardiometabolic health and organ function, Quest Diagnostics stated. In addition to standard blood testing, the panel incorporates biometric measurements, including blood pressure, height, weight, and waist and hip circumferences, to provide further clinical context on metabolic status.

Under the integration, users can purchase the panel for $119 and schedule an appointment for a blood draw and biometric assessment at one of approximately 2,000 Quest patient service centers nationwide, according to the company.

Clinical Oversight and Result Delivery

To support clinical governance, Quest Diagnostics indicated that it collaborates with independent, third-party healthcare providers who review and approve all incoming test orders. These providers are also available at the patient’s request to discuss findings and subsequent medical steps at no extra cost.

Following specimen processing, diagnostic test results will be delivered directly into the Apple Health app, the company stated.

Quest Diagnostics highlighted that chronic illnesses, including diabetes and cardiovascular disease, affect up to three in four American adults but are often manageable or preventable when detected early, according to data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The company noted that expanded access to routine biomarker testing can surface asymptomatic signals of disease, enabling earlier clinical intervention and behavioral risk reduction. This digital-first strategy follows other recent consumer health initiatives from the company, such as its partnership with Humanity to launch biological age analysis in the US. Quest has also recently expanded its testing portfolio in other clinical areas, including plans to launch an FDA-cleared Alzheimer’s blood test and multi-biomarker panel.
