Plexus EBV Multianalyte Diagnostics

Serology test kits

Focus Diagnostics Inc, Cypress, Calif, has introduced two Plexus™ EBV Multianalyte Diagnostics serology test kits for detecting the presence or absence of IgG and IgM antibodies in blood serum for diagnosis of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection and EBV-associated infectious mononucleosis. The assays use Luminex® xMAP® technology, which enables simultaneous detection of multiple target analytes in clinical specimens, tested in diagnostic panels. The Plexus multiplex immunoassay panels have been specifically designed to correspond with laboratory tests that physicians might order to help them diagnose specific infections. Specially designed Plexus software runs on Luminex-based analyzers, and allows a lab to report results for the entire panel or only specific assays.

Nunc EasyFill Cell Factory

Production-scale cell culture

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc, Waltham, Mass, introduces the new Nunc™ EasyFill™ Cell Factory, a single-use multilayer system for production-scale cell culture. The system features two options for filling and harvesting. The traditional port enables aseptic filling through tubing connections while the large port facilitates the pouring of media directly into the cell factory system. The dual-port design supports process transfer and scale-up, from research applications through commercial production. It is available in one-, two-, four-, and 10-layer formats and is a linearly scalable device.

Biohazard Wipes

Prevent leakage

Biohazard wipes from Current Technologies Inc, Crawfordsville, Ind, contain a white absorbent side and bright-orange plastic backing to prevent blood, fluids, and chemicals from leaking onto other surfaces. The wipes trap fluids inside the absorbent side, allowing virtually no leak-through to gloves, hands, or countertops. The orange polyethylene backing is impermeable to strong solvents, including xylene and xylene substitutes, acetone, ketones, alcohols, and formalin. The white absorbent side is available in three thicknesses—standard, heavy, and super—and in multiple sizes: 3 x 3 inches, 4 x 4 inches, and 8 x 9 inches. Precut benchliners are also manufactured in 11 x 16 inches or 16 x 16 inches, and in 100-foot rolls.
