The AccuClot dRVVT Screen and Confirm assays are simplified dilute Russell’s viper-venom time (dRVVT) reagents, intended to detect Lupus Anticoagulants (LAs), a type of antiphospholipid antibody.
The one-step tests may be performed manually or on automated coag instruments. Lupus Anticoagulants have been associated with thrombotic disorders and can occur in clinical conditions, such as autoimmune diseases.
LAs are usually detected with phospholipid-dependent clotting tests, such as activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), kaolin clotting time (KCT) and dRVVT. An LA inhibitor generally is indicated by a prolonged APTT or PT clotting time that is not corrected by mixing patient plasma with normal plasma.
These assays indicate the presence of LAs by using dilute phospholipid (dRVVT Screen) and excess phospholipid concentrations (dRVVT Confirm).
A prolonged dRVVT Screen time in plasma with LA will shorten when performed using the dRVVT Confirm. The resulting increased ratio of dRVVT Screen divided by dRVVT Confirm will confirm the presence of LA, provided extrinsic factor deficiencies are absent. The product also contains a heparin neutralizer (up to 1µ/mL), allowing for dRVVT analysis on heparin therapy patients.
