DiaSorin Inc has signed a 5-year contract to provide pre-vaccination testing for three US military bases. Cardinal Health, a provider of products and services for the healthcare industry, will distribute the tests.

Approximately 54,000 new recruits are expected to come through Fort Sill, Okla, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo, and Fort Knox, Ky in 2006. All new recruits will receive pre-vaccination tests for Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, measles, rubella, and VZV. Each recruit will be screened utilizing all five tests, resulting in more than 250,000 tests annually performed on DiaSorin’s high-throughput ETI-MAX 3000™ microplate analyzer.

“We are pleased to join our partner, Cardinal Health in supporting our US military in this important health screening initiative,” says Stephen P. Gouze, president of DiaSorin Inc. “US Army health care officials underwent a thorough selective process in entrusting DiaSorin with this project. This March we completed training of military laboratory technicians on the ETI-MAX 3000 System, which will prepare them to run 1,350,000 tests in the next 5 years. We readily accept that commitment in providing our soldiers the world-class quality clinical testing they deserve.”
