A new drugs of abuse control in whole blood contains benzoylecgonine, cocaine, cocaethylene, d-amphetamine, d-methamphetamine, morphine, codeine, and hydrocodone. The matrix for this control is prepared from normal human subjects, spiked with pure drug substances to achieve the desired concentrations, then freeze-dried for stability. The control is packaged in screw-cap bottles and reconstituted with 5 mLs of distilled water.
The product has a 24-month shelf life from the date of manufacture when stored refrigerated at 2° to 8°C.
