NovoPath, Princeton, NJ, has announced support for the Citrix XenApp Platform to enable anywhere, anytime information access for its NovoPath anatomic pathology (AP) laboratory information system (LIS).

NovoPathThe new platform will complement the company’s long-standing support of the Microsoft Terminal Services Platform.

“These platforms provide customers with even more flexibility by enabling seamless offsite access to NovoPath,” says Rick Callahan, vice president, sales and marketin, NovoPath. “We believe it is important to provide our clients with a choice in architecture to support remote employees to enable a flexible working environment. With a diversity of offerings, IT departments can save time and money and select the most appropriate NovoPath offering, given their existing IT infrastructure.”

He says these are time-tested, reliable, and widely used methodologies that could extend the lab and its workstations beyond their physical boundaries. “Secure on-demand access to lab data in any setting speeds healthcare delivery, enables physicians to collaborate on difficult cases, and empowers labs to succeed on a business level,” Callahan says. “Labs have a mandate to compete in a challenging environment where change is a way of life.”

In addition to Citrix and Terminal Services support, NovoPath’s NovoOutreach module provides the referring physician with web-based offsite order entry and results viewing. The system also can communicate results directly to referrers’ electronic medical record (EMR) and practice management systems, as well as a full range of mobile devices including most popular smartphones and tablets.
