US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Sebelius, Homeland Security Secretary Napolitano, Education Secretary Duncan, and White House Homeland Security Advisor Brennan will host an all-day H1N1 Influenza Preparedness Summit tomorrow with representatives from 54 states and territories.

The Flu Summit will focus on preparation and planning at every level of government for a fall flu season that is expected to include the
seasonal flu and the H1N1 flu virus. The Summit will be held at the Natcher Conference Center at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md.

The Summit will include remarks from White House Homeland Security Advisor Brennan, Secretaries Napolitano, Sebelius and Duncan, and a Secretaries’ Panel Discussion hosted by Governor O’Malley. The Secretaries’ Panel will include a video conference with Governors Jim Douglas (VT), Jim Doyle (WI), Mark Parkinson (KS), John Baldacci (ME), and Jodi Rell (CT).

The media availability will include Homeland Security Advisor Brennan, Governor O’Malley and Secretaries Sebelius, Napolitano and Duncan. The Flu Summit will include a situational update from the Centers for Disease Control Director Thomas Frieden, and various panel discussions with federal, state, and local health officials.
