The College of American Pathologists will begin searching for a permanent replacement while naming an interim CEO.
The College of American Pathologists (CAP) announced that chief executive officer Michael Fraser, PhD, MS, CAE, will step down from his position effective Oct 27, 2025, to pursue an opportunity with another physician organization.
CAP board president Donald S. Karcher, MD, FCAP, made the announcement in emails sent to CAP members and staff on Aug 7.
“During his tenure, Mike has provided outstanding leadership, and his strategic approach has helped advance the CAP and the field of pathology,” says Dr Karcher in the announcement. “We appreciate his dedication and significant contributions to our mission and growth, as well as his commitment to you, our members, and your vitally important role in patient health.”
The CAP board plans to name an interim CEO and will begin the search for a permanent replacement, according to Karcher’s.
“The board is confident in the opportunities that await the CAP, and we look forward to a bright future,” says Karcher in the announcement.
