The new ThermoBrite Elite from Iris Sample Processing, Westwood, Mass, automates the pre- and post-hybridization steps in FISH testing and provides onboard denaturation and hybridization. The system offers the same accurate temperature control of ± 1°C as the original ThermoBrite Denaturation/Hybridization system. Twelve slides can be processed per run. An easy-to-use graphic user interface offers standard protocols for blood, urine, or solid-tumor FISH procedures, or users can customize protocols for other tests. Up to 10 reagents can be dispensed, and there are three independent waste ports for proper disposal. The system is a small benchtop unit that can fit virtually anywhere in the laboratory.

Rapid method for identification of mycobacterial organisms
For tuberculosis testing, GG&B, Wichita Falls, Tex, offers the cost-effective AFB-0010 Acid Fast Bacillus single-slide stainer, providing a rapid method for identification of mycobacterial organisms. On the hands-free instrument, each prefixed slide is automatically stained and rinsed in 2 minutes and 15 seconds. The instrument offers quality and consistency for every test. Counterstain quenches fluorescence of all nonacid fast organisms and debris, resulting in a cleaner field of view. It is just as sensitive as other auramine stains. The system is suited for the point-of-care physician needing quick results to start diagnosis or the smaller lab just initiating tuberculosis testing in their lab.

With minimal daily maintenance, the AGS-1000 Automated Gram Stainer from GG&B, Wichita Falls, Tex, is an operator-friendly tool for gram staining in labs of all sizes. This single-slide stainer is ready 24/7, automatically adjusts for sample thickness, and has individual preference controls for color intensity. Each slide is automatically stained, decolorized, and counterstained in 3.5 to 4.5 minutes. Provides multislide staining

The easy-to-use hematology software solution for clinical laboratories with Sysmex® X-Series instruments and the Sysmex SP-1000i™ slidemaker/stainer interfaces to both instruments. It is designed to bring consolidation and workflow efficiencies to the high- and very high-volume testing laboratories (greater than two million clinical chemistry and immunoassay tests per year). The series consists of four analytical chemistry/immunoassay modules (cobas c 702, cobas c 502, cobas ISE module, and cobas e 602) that can be configured into 24 unique combinations to fit the needs of a wide variety of testing environments. In addition to having several features new to the cobas analyzer series, the system can run an integrated CC/IA menu throughput of up to 4,740 tests/hour or serve as a single high-volume automation chemistry platform with a throughput of up to 9,800 tests/hour while using only a single entry point.
