SpheroSense Technologies Inc is set to produce a handheld device that will monitor post-operative and trauma patients for early warning signs of sepsis, potentially saving lives through early detection.
By allowing medical personnel to administer antibiotics and anti-inflammatories before major damage can occur the likelihood of death or disability could fall and many expensive stays in ICUs can be prevented.
The device will detect bacteria when it circulates at low levels in the bloodstream, before the onset of sepsis.
