The American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) has come out in support of the implementation of standardized health information technology within the nation’s health care system.

The organization announced its policy on health information technology and medical health records in order to improve patient care and public health.

ASCP said advancements in technology help deliver health care services as fast and as accurately as possible and the organization believes the lab should lead the way since so much of patients’ care depends on the lab.
