Partnership provides mail-in semen analysis as a covered benefit for eligible members.

Fellow Health has joined the Progyny network as a lab and ancillary provider, making the company’s mail-in semen analysis available as a covered benefit for eligible Progyny members seeking fertility care.

The partnership addresses a gap in fertility testing, according to the company, as male factor infertility contributes to nearly 50% of all infertility cases, yet traditional in-clinic semen collection creates barriers due to discomfort and inconvenience for patients.

Fellow Health’s mail-in testing kit allows patients to collect samples at home while maintaining diagnostic quality through processing at a high-complexity, CLIA-accredited laboratory. The company says this approach delivers clinically actionable results that support diagnosis and treatment planning, distinguishing it from wellness-grade alternatives.

Progyny operates a network of more than 650 clinics nationwide and focuses on women’s health and family building services. The addition of Fellow Health’s testing aims to provide patients with fertility information before their initial consultation, enabling more informed discussions about treatment options.

“As individuals embark on their family building journey, the more information they have at the start, the better supported they are in their healthcare decision making,” says Dr Janet Choi, chief medical officer at Progyny, in a release. “With nearly 50% of fertility cases involving male factor infertility, we advocate that the standard of care should include semen analyses, and we have been seeing more and more men electively embrace their role.”

Laboratory Processing and Clinical Validation

Fellow Health processes more than 400 patient samples daily through its CLIA-certified laboratory and partners with more than 2,000 clinical practices. The company reports it is the only mail-in semen analysis service with peer-reviewed validation data.

“At-home collection provides unmatched convenience, but what really matters is delivering clinically meaningful results,” says Dr James Smith, chief medical officer at Fellow Health, in a release. “Fellow Health’s mail-in semen analysis combines the comfort of at-home collection with the quality and accuracy of an in-lab diagnostic test, empowering patients and providers to have more informed, productive conversations from the very first appointment.”

Progyny members can access the testing service by contacting their Progyny Care Advocates to initiate an order. The service aims to streamline the fertility evaluation process by providing diagnostic information early in the care journey.

Fellow Health, founded in 2018, has secured funding from investors including 5AM Ventures, Forest Road, Labcorp Venture Fund, Human Capital, Genoa Ventures, and Mantis Venture Capital.
