The acquisition expands the precision medicine company into laboratory instrumentation with a compact platform engineered for up to 600,000 cycles.

Diatech Pharmacogenetics has acquired Germany-based SensoQuest and launched the Labcycler PCR thermal cycler, marking the Italian molecular diagnostics company’s expansion into the laboratory instrumentation market.

Originally developed by SensoQuest, the Labcycler system is now manufactured at Diatech’s facility in Jesi, Italy. The compact instrument is designed for routine nucleic acid amplification across a broad range of applications, including oncology, forensics, veterinary, plant and environmental testing. Engineered around principles of robustness, accuracy, and ease of use, the instrument is rated for up to 600,000 cycles, representing approximately 20 years of routine laboratory use.

“With the acquisition of SensoQuest and the launch of Labcycler, Diatech is taking a strategic step, from reagents and diagnostic kits to complete solutions for the molecular laboratory,” says Fabio Biondi, president of Diatech Pharmacogenetics, in a release. “What convinced us was the quality of the German engineering, to which Diatech now adds Italian manufacturing and the know-how we have built over the years. Together, these features create a powerful combination that is grounded in expertise. Precision, reliability and ease of use are what laboratories ask us for every day, and Labcycler delivers them all in a platform built to last.”

Transition to Complete Laboratory Systems

The acquisition follows Diatech’s long-standing use and evaluation of the SensoQuest technology within its own molecular diagnostic R&D operations. By bringing the engineering and manufacturing in-house, the company aims to scale development and make the hardware available across a broader international market.

Diatech specializes in precision medicine solutions, developing tests for solid tumor diagnostics, liquid biopsy, genetics, and pharmacogenetics. The company maintains a commercial presence in more than 50 countries, supporting pathology departments, molecular biology laboratories, and healthcare institutions.
