WHOOP Advanced Labs combines periodic biomarker analysis with 24/7 physiological data to provide real-time health insights and coaching.
WHOOP has launched Advanced Labs, a feature that combines blood testing with continuous wearable data to deliver integrated health monitoring for its members.
The Boston-based human performance company announced that more than 350,000 current WHOOP members have signed up for the waitlist since the feature was previewed in May. Members in the US will begin gaining access, with a global rollout to follow.
WHOOP Advanced Labs allows members to upload past bloodwork results or schedule the company’s curated Advanced Labs panel, which tests an extensive set of biomarkers. The system then connects these biomarker results with 24/7 physiological data to reveal how habits and behaviors directly impact health.
“WHOOP Advanced Labs bridges two worlds: lab diagnostics and 24/7 continuous monitoring,” says Will Ahmed, founder and CEO of WHOOP, in a release. “For the first time, our members can see how their blood biomarkers and daily behaviors connect in real time.”
Clinical Review and AI-Powered Insights
The platform creates a continuous feedback loop where periodic blood tests inform daily coaching in real time. WHOOP developed the product in conjunction with its medical advisory board.
“Bloodwork can sometimes leave people with more questions than answers,” says Dr Hazel Wallace, nutritionist, author, and founder of The Food Medic, in a release. “WHOOP Advanced Labs helps bridge that gap by putting health insights directly into the hands of the individual, where habits can make a powerful difference.”
The system provides clinician-reviewed results and delivers performance insights based on the integration of blood testing, daily monitoring, and coaching. Members receive personalized recommendations based on their biomarker levels and continuous physiological data.
Two-Track Approach to Biomarker Integration
WHOOP Advanced Labs offers members two ways to incorporate biomarkers into their health monitoring experience. Members can either upload existing lab results from their healthcare provider or schedule WHOOP’s curated biomarker panel through the platform.
The company positions the launch as part of its mission to add 1 billion healthy years to people’s lives by extending both healthspan and quality of life. Earlier this year, WHOOP announced this long-term goal, with healthspan referring to the number of years someone lives in good health, free from chronic disease and functional decline.
Each week, WHOOP calculates the net change in its members’ lives using the app’s Healthspan feature, helping members understand how daily behaviors are adding or subtracting from their long-term healthspan.
Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Boston, WHOOP has raised more than $400 million in venture capital and ships to 56 markets worldwide. The company’s wearable devices include WHOOP 5.0 and WHOOP MG, featuring cardiovascular health screening with US Food and Drug Administration-cleared ECG capabilities and blood pressure insights.
