The modular measurement system features digital sensor diagnostics and supports up to four parameters simultaneously.
Mettler Toledo has launched NineFocus, a multiparameter benchtop meter system designed to boost laboratory productivity while reducing operational costs and supporting regulatory compliance.
The system features a modular design that allows laboratories to measure up to four parameters either simultaneously or in a custom sequence. The built-in digital module can be expanded with additional modules, enabling users to convert between different measurement types—such as turning a pH meter into a conductivity meter—by simply changing sensors rather than purchasing new equipment.
NineFocus integrates with InLab DES digital sensors, which provide diagnostic capabilities that continuously monitor sensor condition and offer step-by-step troubleshooting guidance directly on the meter display. This feature facilitates preventive maintenance and helps prevent premature sensor replacement.
The system includes flexible user management with access control based on job roles and user-specific passwords to support compliance with regulations and industry standards. Data integrity features enable automatic data transfer to PC or LabX software for seamless compliance with CFR 21 Part 11 and ALCOA++ standards.
Operational Features and Design
The OneClick user interface allows operators to launch custom shortcuts for complex workflows with a single click on the home screen. The system supports 14 languages to facilitate local adoption and reduce operational errors.
NineFocus offers versatile placement options, with the terminal positioned in front of the meter, on top of it, freely on the bench, or mounted on the EasyPlace electrode arm. Various cable lengths allow safe operation under fume hoods.
The meter carries an IP52 rating for protection against dust ingress and water drips, while a connector compartment protects connections from liquid exposure and corrosion. The control terminal includes a protective cover against dust, dirt, and aggressive chemicals.
Automation and Sustainability
The system integrates with the InMotion autosampler for automated calibration, verification, and measurement of more than 300 samples without requiring LabX software. This automation capability is supported with instrument software version 2.0.0.
The InLab DES sensors feature a detachable Signal Bridge that houses measurement electronics, allowing only the sensor shaft to be replaced at end of lifecycle while the Signal Bridge can be reused across different sensor models within the same parameter. The detachable sensor cable design means one cable can be used for all sensors.
