The benchtop hemostasis analyzer uses advanced preanalytical checks and multiwavelength technology to improve data reliability for mid- to high-volume labs.

Sysmex has developed the CS-2500, a fully automated blood coagulation analyzer, to consolidate a range of hemostasis testing for mid- to high-volume laboratories. The compact benchtop system performs clotting, chromogenic, immunoturbidimetric, and aggregation* testing, offering up to 60 selectable parameters to streamline workflows in multifunctional labs with demanding diagnostic needs.

The analyzer aims to improve result confidence by addressing common preanalytical issues, such as tube fill volume, which is central to the system’s design.

“The CS-2500 automated blood coagulation analyzers were truly designed with the customer in mind,” says Katy Richards, group manager, hemostasis portfolio at Sysmex. “It is a powerful bench-top system effortlessly blending precision and simplicity to support the diverse testing needs of the mid- to high-volume segment.”

Key Technologies for Result Confidence

The CS-2500 incorporates several features designed to enhance efficiency and the quality of test results:

  • Preanalytical Sample Integrity Checks: The system automatically assesses sample tube fill volume and scans for common interferences like hemolysis, icterus, and lipemia. This helps prevent errors from unsuitable samples and reduces the need for manual review.
  • Simultaneous Multiwavelength Analysis: By using five wavelengths, including a unique 800nm wavelength to mitigate lipemia interference, the analyzer selects the optimal wavelength for each measurement to ensure high-quality results, even with challenging samples.
  • Workflow Consolidation: The ability to run routine and specialty tests on one instrument reduces the need for multiple analyzers, saving space and simplifying lab operations.
  • Walkaway Efficiency: Features such as cap piercing, continuous loading of samples and reagents, and automated, rule-based rerun and reflex testing are designed to maximize walkaway capability and minimize hands-on time.

The system has a throughput of up to 180 tests per hour for PT or PT/APTT assays and is suited for environments such as community hospitals and regional medical centers.
