The new decentralized molecular surveillance installations expand testing infrastructure across 21 US states as mosquito-borne arbovirus activity rises.
Co-Diagnostics has completed two Vector Smart mosquito surveillance laboratory installations in Florida and initiated installation and customer training at an additional site in Indiana.
The deployments arrive amid increased arbovirus activity in the Southeast. According to the Florida Department of Health arbovirus surveillance report for the week ending Aug 29, 2026, the state has documented 73 locally acquired dengue cases across five counties, identified 14 dengue-positive mosquito pools, and noted elevated transmission risks. The completed installations operationalize previously announced orders and broaden a Vector Smart network currently utilized by mosquito abatement programs across 21 US states, including seven mosquito control districts in Florida, the release states.

Bringing additional laboratories online is another step toward building that network.”
Decentralized Testing and Multi-Pathogen Workflows
Vector Smart laboratories supply local abatement districts with rapid PCR data to guide vector management decisions without the turnaround delays associated with centralized reference testing, according to Co-Diagnostics. The platform utilizes a unified workflow that allows surveillance personnel to screen mosquito pools for several arboviral targets concurrently.

Network Expansion and Assay Validation
The installations in Florida and Indiana represent the latest milestone in an expansion initiative first announced on June 25, 2026, as pending laboratory orders transition to operational status, according to the company release.
This phase follows the company’s first international laboratory installation and ongoing performance assessments by external public health entities. According to the release, an additional state public health laboratory recently completed an independent evaluation of the company’s Vector Smart VZDC assay, adding to third-party validation data supporting the platform’s adoption across regional public health, municipal, and mosquito surveillance programs.
