The integration brings Paige PanCancer Detect and Paige Prostate research applications into the Aperio HALO AP digital pathology workflow.
Leica Biosystems has expanded its Aperio AI Store through the addition of two Paige digital pathology artificial intelligence applications from Tempus, providing oncology researchers with expanded computational tools integrated directly into their image analysis workflows.
The Aperio AI Store functions as an interoperable digital pathology platform designed to consolidate multiple AI applications into a single user interface. Available through the Aperio HALO AP image management system—developed in partnership with Indica Labs—the platform enables pathology laboratories to access curated partner algorithms without requiring separate software interfaces for each vendor or tool.
Multi-Cancer and Prostate Analysis Applications
The newly introduced tools focus on cancer research applications:
- Paige PanCancer Detect: An application powered by the Tempus pathology foundation model, designed to identify suspicious areas across more than 40 cancer types.
- Paige Prostate: A suite of AI applications—including Paige Prostate Detect, Paige Prostate Grade & Quantify, and Paige Perineural Invasion—built to assist in the evaluation of prostate cancer features in hematoxylin and eosin-stained whole slide images.
Both products are designated for research use only and are not intended for diagnostic or clinical procedures. In the US, Aperio HALO AP is also labeled for research use only, while holding CE-IVDR certification in the European Union.
Streamlining Digital Pathology Workflows
By embedding partner algorithms directly into established laboratory software, the platform aims to reduce technical complexity for facilities evaluating computational tools across varied case types.
“Nearly one year after launch, the Aperio AI Store is helping move AI in digital pathology from individual applications toward a more connected and scalable experience,” says Naveen Chandra, vice president and general manager of digital pathology at Leica Biosystems, in a release. “Tempus brings highly differentiated AI capabilities to our ecosystem, giving laboratories more choice while allowing them to access these technologies within a workflow they already know. This is an important step toward making AI more practical, scalable, and ultimately more impactful in pathology.”
The Aperio AI Store was initially launched in the US in October 2025. Tempus representatives highlighted that the integration provides broader access to computational pathology tools across global research settings.
“Our collaboration with Leica Biosystems allows us to bring our AI-enabled computational pathology products directly into the daily workflows of more researchers worldwide,” says Razik Yousfi, senior vice president and general manager of AI products at Tempus, in a release. “By embedding the Paige offerings into the Aperio HALO AP software ecosystem, we are making advanced image analysis more accessible, seamless, and actionable for oncology research.”
Leica Biosystems plans to demonstrate the new applications alongside its digital pathology solutions portfolio at the Digital Pathology Association’s Pathology Visions 2026 conference, scheduled for Oct 16–18 in San Diego, California.
