The expanded menu brings the number of tests to 67, with samples requiring only a pea-sized drop of blood collected from a fingertip.
BetterWay blood testing by Babson Diagnostics has expanded its test menu with six new offerings: an iron panel consisting of four tests, cortisol, and quantitative hCG pregnancy testing. The additions bring the total number of available tests to 67.
The iron panel supports detection and management of iron-related health conditions, while the Cortisol test provides insights into stress and adrenal function. All BetterWay tests require only a pea-sized drop of blood collected from a fingertip at clinical and retail locations.
The new quantitative hCG pregnancy test offers several advantages over traditional at-home pregnancy tests by providing the same quantitative blood test ordered by physicians to confirm pregnancy. The test enables earlier confirmation of pregnancy, helping patients and clinicians make timely health decisions while serving as a convenient, affordable alternative to multiple at-home tests, according to a release from the company.
“Women do not want to wait six weeks to get an hCG pregnancy test, so our new test menu is going to considerably improve convenience for them,” says David Stein, Babson’s CEO, in a release. “All of our tests, including the ones we launched today, put the patient first by offering quality, convenience, and affordability.”
Laboratory Processing and Results
Samples are analyzed at Babson’s CLIA-certified laboratory in Austin, Texas, with customers receiving test results in one to two days. The company partners with retailers, healthcare organizations, clinician practices, and employers to provide access to testing services.
BetterWay launched in May 2024 with a menu of 55 tests covering analytes commonly ordered for routine exams, chronic condition management, and screenings. The platform has continued adding tests since its initial launch.
The blood collection method is designed to be less invasive and more convenient while maintaining the accuracy and efficiency of traditional laboratory testing. The expanded menu covers tests for routine health monitoring and specific diagnostic needs across multiple clinical areas.
