The company will detail integrated approaches for cell-free DNA and RNA analysis, along with enzymatic methylation profiling and a new high-fidelity PCR master mix.
New England Biolabs will highlight its latest advances for molecular diagnostics and infectious disease surveillance at the Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) Annual Meeting & Expo. The event takes place Nov 10-15 at the Seattle Convention Center.
The company’s program includes a corporate workshop on multiomic profiling of cell-free DNA (cfDNA) and cell-free RNA (cfRNA), along with two poster presentations. New England Biolabs says it draws on more than 50 years of expertise in enzymology.
“AMP is a wonderful opportunity to engage with, and receive direct feedback from, the molecular pathology community about their scientific goals, open questions, and missing or challenging workflow steps,” says Betsy Young, PhD, senior product marketing manager for next-generation sequencing at New England Biolabs, in a release. “Our goal is to support these scientists with reagents and protocols that will advance their next major assay development project.”
Workshop Targets Multiple Signals From One Sample
The workshop, titled “One Sample, Many Insights: Multiomic Profiling in cfDNA and cfRNA Samples,” is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov 11, at 10 am in Tahoma 3, Level 3. Speakers are Margaret R. Heider, PhD, NEBNext applications and product development scientist III, and Anagha Kadam, PhD, Monarch applications and product development scientist III, both at New England Biolabs.
According to New England Biolabs, the session reflects a streamlined combination of Monarch Nucleic Acid Purification and NEBNext NGS Library Preparation. The goal is to develop integrated cfDNA and cfRNA approaches that run from extraction through sequencing.
“Cell-free nucleic acids offer a valuable, minimally invasive window into disease biology, but realizing their full potential requires workflows that can recover and analyze multiple types of information from limited samples,” says Nicole M. Nichols, PhD, executive director of applications and product development at New England Biolabs, in a release. She adds that the approach is intended “to help researchers investigate complementary mutation, methylation, and gene-expression signals with confidence.”
The workshop is open to all AMP registrants, and complimentary registration is available to individuals not attending the AMP meeting. Registration is required to attend AMP Corporate Workshop Day, and free registration is available through the AMP meeting website.
Posters Address Damaged Samples and High-Sensitivity Applications
New England Biolabs scientists will also present two posters, both led by Heider:
- Poster ST176: NEBNext Enzymatic Solutions Enable DNA Methylation Profiling of Highly Damaged Patient Matched Tumor-Normal Samples
- Poster TT065: A New, High-fidelity PCR Master Mix with Broad NGS Workflow Compatibility and Superior Performance in High-sensitivity Applications
The first poster explores enzymatic approaches to DNA methylation profiling in highly damaged, patient-matched tumor-normal samples. The second covers a new high-fidelity PCR master mix designed for broad compatibility with next-generation sequencing workflows and high-sensitivity applications. New England Biolabs says the presentations together show its work to address challenging sample types and demanding molecular analysis workflows.
