photo The Spot-Light HER2 DNA probe and CISH (Chromogenic In Situ Hybridization) Kit is for chromogenic detection of gene amplification in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues.
The chromogenic signal produced with Spot-Light probes is viewed under a standard brightfield microscope. HER2 gene amplification is strongly associated with protein overexpression. Normal cells contain two to four copies of the gene, while breast cancer cells can contain dozens of copies.
In contrast to FISH probes, this probe and CISH Kit enables gene amplification to be observed in the context of the surrounding tissue morphology.
This HER2 probe was constructed using proprietary Subtraction Probe Technology (SPT) to remove repetitive DNA sequences resulting in a strong signal with low background. SPT eliminates the need for an extra blocking step. This product is for research use only.
