Bio-Rad Laboratories Inc, Hercules, Calif, will soon host a symposium focusing on approaches and advances in protein biomarker discovery, validation, and characterization. Experts from leading research institutions will be the featured speakers.

The free event is planned for Sept 26, from 8:15 am to 3:30 pm at the North Carolina Biotechnology Center in Research Triangle Park, NC.

The program will offer updates on guidelines for effective study design, and discussion of applications of SELDI-TOF protein expression profiling to discover candidate biomarkers.

Presentations will address successful approaches for validation and identification, details of the latest technologies, biomarker discovery services, and advances in surface plasmon resonance, which allows the simultaneous analysis of multiple molecular interactions.

Scheduled speakers include Dr. Gordon Whiteley, SAIC/National Cancer Institute; Liping Liu, ATCC; and Dr. Momar Ndao, McGill University, Canada.
