Sampling Program for IVD p63 Antibody
Evaluation samples available
Biocare Medical, Concord, Calif, introduces a sampling program for p63 antibody for clinical and research laboratories. Biocare Medical is currently one of only two companies worldwide with rights to sell p63 antibodies for IVD testing purposes. p63 is featured in several of Biocare’s novel multiplex IHC products: PIN-4™, ADH-5™, Lung Adeno-2™, and Lung Sqamous-2™ help differentiate five phenotypes of breast cancer; PIN versus prostate cancer versus benign disease; and lung adeno- versus squamous cell carcinoma. A low-cost evaluation sample is available at biocare.net/p63. Both predilute and concentrated antibodies are available.

RAPIDstain
Ready-to-use protein stain
RAPIDstainâ„¢, from G-Biosciences, St Louis, is an ultrasensitive and ready-to-use protein stain based on Coomassie dye. No mixing or preparation is required. Users rinse gel, add the stain, and protein bands will develop within 5 to 10 minutes, reaching a maximum visibility in less than 1 hour. The product only stains protein, leaving a crystal-clear background resulting in high band visibility. The gels require no destaining and are sensitive enough to detect as little as 4 to 8 ng BSA. Staining shows a linear response for densitometric gel analysis and produces sharp scanning or photographic results. RAPIDstain is supplied in a 1L container, which is sufficient reagent to stain up to 50 mini gels (8 x 10 cm), or in a 1-gallon size for staining up to 200 mini gels.

Clinical Algorithms
In development from Dako and Omnyx
Dako, Glostrup, Denmark, and Omnyx, Pittsburgh, have entered into a 3-year agreement to develop clinical algorithms for digital pathology, which aims to support pathologists in generating accurate, objective, and reproducible diagnostic results. Under the agreement, Dako will utilize its expertise in staining and image analysis to develop image analysis algorithms, which will be incorporated into the Omnyx digital pathology platform as part of Omnyx’s overall strategy of providing pathologists with a comprehensive digital work environment. The algorithms developed under the agreement will be specifically optimized for Dako’s breast cancer panel of immunohistochemical and in situ hybridization tests.

eBioscience human IL-33 Platinum ELISA
Quality-validated pre-coated ELISA kits
Bender MedSystems, Viena, Austria, releases its new eBioscience human IL-33 Platinum ELISA kit, which promotes the release of Th2-associated cytokines from Th2 cells, and also acts as a Th2 chemotactic factor. It also increases synthesis of IL-6, IL-13, and MCP-1, for example, by primary bone marrow-derived mast cells. Studies have associated IL-33 with asthma and autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and Wegener’s granulomatosis.

DNA Extraction Kits
For use with the PapilloCheck HPV test
Greiner Bio-One, Frickenhausen, Germany, launches two variants of a specially adapted DNA extraction kit for its cervical (cervix uteri) cancer test system, PapilloCheck. By expanding the product portfolio for the test system, the company now offers a simple and rapid complete solution for detection of human papilloma viruses. The two DNA Extraction Kits, certified as CE-IVD (in vitro diagnostics) suitable for isolating human and viral DNA, are specially developed for extraction of the DNA from uterine cervix smears for subsequent analysis with PapilloCheck. Depending on the sample frequency or volume, two different extraction kit processing methods can be applied: either single-column processing using centrifugation or processing eight columns applying a vacuum system.

ISOLUTE SLE+
Liquid extraction sample preparation columns
Biotage, Uppsala, Sweden, introduces its ISOLUTE SLE+ high-performance supported liquid extraction sample preparation columns. Unlike labor-intensive liquid-liquid extraction and complicated solid phase extraction methods, ISOLUTE SLE+ columns use a simple three-step methodology. Users simply load, wait 5 minutes, and elute. The columns combine clean extracts with rapid workflow to ensure reproducibility. They are also suitable for use with sample volumes from 25 uL up to 10 mL, and are available in a new Array format—a modular plate design that provides flexibility for method development.
