The integration gives more than 4,700 oncology providers across 1,600-plus community cancer care centers direct access to order and receive results from multiple precision oncology tests within a single clinical workflow.
Abbott and Flatiron Health have integrated Abbott’s precision oncology test portfolio into OncoEMR, Flatiron’s cloud-based electronic medical record (EMR) platform, allowing oncology providers to order tests and receive results without leaving their existing clinical workflow.
Through the integration, clinicians can digitally order Abbott tests—individually or in combination—and receive status updates and results directly within OncoEMR. Available tests include the Oncotype DX Breast Recurrence Score, OncoExTra, Oncodetect, and Riskguard tests. The integration is designed to support treatment decisions across multiple stages of cancer care while reducing administrative burden.
The partnership expands access to Abbott’s precision oncology tests across Flatiron’s national network of more than 1,600 community cancer care centers, where 4,700 providers deliver care.
“We’re focused on making it easier for clinicians to access the right information at the right moment of care,” says Quincy Weatherspoon, vice president and general manager of point of care solutions at Flatiron Health, in a release. “By integrating Abbott’s precision oncology portfolio directly into OncoEMR, we’re reducing friction in the workflow and helping providers move faster—from test ordering to treatment decisions.”
Community oncology practices represent the setting where the majority of cancer care in the US is delivered. Abbott says the integration removes a key barrier to accessing its portfolio at the point of care.
“For community oncology practices, where most cancer care is delivered, this removes a key barrier to accessing our portfolio at the point of care, helping accelerate treatment decisions and enabling more informed, personalized patient care,” says Brian Baranick, vice president of precision oncology at Abbott, in a release.
