QML, a point-of-care management system from TELCOR, is now compatible with the Sofia fluorescent immunoassay analyzer, a benchtop analyzer for infectious diseases produced by Quidel Corp. A new software driver in the QML system enables users to automatically import results from the Sofia analyzer into an electronic medical record or laboratory information system, reducing errors caused by manual entry.
QML is an open system that currently permits interfacing with 90 point-of-care devices, allowing users to add or exchange devices while avoiding downtime. The Sofia analyzer received FDA clearance in 2011 for 4 immunoassays to detect influenza A and B, strep A, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and elevated levels of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), a biomarker of pregnancy.
