Greiner Bio-One, Kremsmünster, Austria, has recently unveiled two instrument platforms for automated performance of the PapilloCheck DNA array-based assay for human papillomavirus. The compact-sized CX Nimbus fits in any laboratory setting and incorporates liquid handling of DNA extraction and pre-polymerase chain reaction for fast and easy processing of 48 samples. CX Starlet is used for automated processing of 96 samples, with such integrated devices as a thermal cycler and sealer. The two platforms enable faster and more efficient qualitative detection of human papillomavirus. The CE-marked PapilloCheck assay performs simultaneous detection and genotyping of six low-risk and 18 high-risk HPV types from cervical smears in a single analysis.
