Bio-Rad Laboratories’ Exact Diagnostics HBV, HCV and HIV-1 Run Controls, which monitor the performance of molecular virology assays, are now available to laboratories in Europe.  

The HBV, HCV and HIV-1 Run Controls are external quality controls intended to monitor the performance of molecular assays. These products are calibrated against the 3rd WHO International Standard for HBV (10/264), the 4th WHO International Standard for HCV (06/102), and the 3rd WHO International Standard for HIV-1 (10/152).

This line of virology controls is intended to test the entire process of a variety of assays including extraction, amplification and detection. These products consist of whole viruses in a high quality true EDTA plasma matrix to simulate clinical patient specimens; have a 36-month shelf life (when stored at -20°C); can be frozen and thawed multiple times; and has a 5-day stability when stored at 2-8°C.
