Bio-Rad Laboratories has received the “My Green Lab” certification for its R&D facilities in Irvine, California, marking a new sustainability milestone, according to the company.

Recognized by the United Nations Race to Zero campaign as a key measure of progress towards a zero-carbon future, My Green Lab Certification is considered the gold standard for laboratory sustainability best practices around the world, the company says. Bio-Rad has been certified at the Green Level, My Green Lab’s highest rating.

My Green Lab Certification is a proven, scalable program that helps organizations achieve their sustainability goals, according to Bio-Rad. It offers methods rooted in science to dramatically reduce the environmental impact of laboratories without disrupting the critical work underway.

In an effort to further expand upon laboratory sustainability efforts, Bio-Rad underwent impactful changes to decrease the environmental footprint of its research by joining the My Green Lab Certification Program run by the non-profit organization My Green Lab. After a thorough assessment of its lab practices, equipment, waste, and procurement, Bio-Rad was awarded the highest level “Green” certificate, proudly joining a network of hundreds of certified green labs all over the world to share best practices. 

My Green Lab Certification is valid for two years, at which time, Bio-Rad can pursue recertification.
