Continuing its push into the US market for clinical laboratory services, Sonic Healthcare Limited, Sydney, Australia, has recently acquired two more labs, for a total investment of $33 million.
Sonic purchased American Clinical Services, Inc (ACS), Lyndhurst, NJ, situated in the New York metropolitan area, which reports annual revenue of more than $13 million. ACS will become part of Sonic’s existing New York-based business, Sunrise Medical Laboratories, in Hauppauge.
Earlier, the company purchased Woodbury Clinical Laboratory in Lebanon, Tenn, a suburb of Nashville. Woodbury reports annual revenue of more than $4 million.
The acquisitions have brought the company’s total investment in the United States to almost $500 million since 2005. US operations represent about 20% of its total global revenue.
