Biosite recently added the Triage D-Dimer Test, the Triage Profiler Shortness of Breath (SOB)™ Panel, and the Triage TOX Drug Screen with Acetaminophen to its expanded menue of Triage tests. The tests are performed on the Triage MeterPlus platform, which is a portable fluorometer that reads and interprets information from the Triage tests and reports results in printed and electronic formats in approximately 15 minutes.

The Triage D-Dimer Test provides rapid, quantitative D-Dimer test results to help assess and evaluate patients suspected of having thromboembolic events. The test uses highly sensitive immunoassay technology and the highly specific 3B6 D-Dimer antibody. The Triage Profiler SOB Panel helps clinicians diagnose patients with shortness of breath by simultaneously measuring five analytes: D-Dimer, BNP, Tnl, CK-MB, and Myoglobin. This test helps determine the severity of heart failure and the diagnosis and assessment of myocardial infarction, disseminated intravascular coagulation, pulmonary embolism, and acute coronary syndrome.

The new Triage TOX Drug Screens are used for the qualitative determination of major metabolites of up to eight distinct drug classes. The Triage TOX Drug Screen APAP&PCP simultaneously detects levels of acetaminophen (APAP), amphetamines, methamphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, PCP, and tricyclic antidepressants in urine. Both tests report qualitative results in approximately 15 minutes.

Biosite’s Total Triage® Solution includes the Triage Cardiac Panel, the Triage BNP Test, the Triage Profiler Symptom Panels, the Triage D-Dimer Test, the Triage TOX Drug Screens, the Triage Drugs of Abuse Panels, and the Triage Microbiology Panels.
