Dawning Technologies Inc, Fort Myers, Fla, and Medical Automation Systems Inc, (MAS), Charlottesville, Va, have partnered to fuse Dawning’s instrument interface and lab middleware products with MAS’s RALS®-Plus POC data management solutions.

RALS system users will be able to connect a wider range of POC devices through their existing RALS-Plus system.

"MAS has been a leader in POC connectivity for many years, and we believe our technology can add real value to current and new MAS product offerings," said John Selmyer, Dawning’s president. “We will be working with MAS to develop applications that make a difference to customers.” The arrangement will leverage Dawning’s JResultNet Middleware software and the new JavaLin/PDI device to provide connectivity for serial and network-based POC analyzers.

The MAS’s RALS-Plus system will have connectivity to devices in Dawning’s Java instrument-driver library. "One of our strategic goals has always been to offer our customers total freedom of choice in the selection of their point-of-care technology platforms," said Greg Menke, MAS president and CEO. "We are very excited about this new partnership and what it will mean to our 1,500 hospital customers."

Dawning has installed connectivity solutions for clients—system vendors, IVD instrument manufacturers, POC system vendors, and clinical labs—in more than 3,000 sites worldwide. Its products are suitable for most clinical analyzers, POC, and system-to-system connections.

MAS data management systems monitor and manage diagnostic testing performed at the patient’s bedside.
