Donal Quinn has been appointed as head of the diagnostics division of the Siemens Healthcare sector, Erlangen, Germany, succeeding Jim Reid-Anderson, who on May 1 became the new CEO of the sector.
Quinn had been executive VP and chief customer officer of the diagnostics division since November 2007.
After serving as controller for Abbott Laboratories, Ireland, in the late 1970’s, Quinn worked 16 years for Mallinckrodt Medical, Hennef, Germany, a medical device company, becoming the global president of its hospital business.
In 1998, Quinn joined Dade Behring as group president in the biology sector, and later became president, overseeing Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. In 2000, he was promoted to president of the international sector and was responsible for all commercial operations outside of the United States and Canada. In 2002, he became president of global customer management.
Quinn was appointed to the role of COO of Dade Behring in 2007, with global responsibility for sales, service, marketing, and logistics. Siemens acquired Dade Behring in 2007.
