These EBV microplate ELISA test kits include assays for EA-D IgG, VCA(p-18)IgG, VCA IgM, EBNA-1 IgG and EBNA-1 IgM. They determine serologic EBV status and aid in the diagnosis of infectious mononucleosis in adults.
The EA-D IgG assay qualitatively determines IgG antibodies to EA-D antigen. It uses a recombinant antigen for sensitivity and specificity. When tested against clinically characterized sera, the EA-D IgG ELISA had a relative sensitivity of 100% with late acute and relative specificities of 100% and 97% in seronegative and early acute sera, respectively.
EBV VAC(p-18) and VCA IgM ELISA tests qualitatively determine IgG and IgM antibodies to the Viral Capsid Antigen complex. It uses a recombinant antigen. The VCA (p-18) IgG ELISA had a relative sensitivity of 95% with seropositive sera and a relative specificity of 100% with seronegative sera. The VCA IgM ELISA had a relative sensitivity of 97.4% with acute sera and relative specificities of 96.4% and 99% with seronegative and seropositive sera, respectively.
