Balance Enclosure

Chemical-resistant metal framing

The VSE balance enclosure from HEMCO Corp, Independence, Mo, is offered in 24-, 36-, and 48-inch widths to accommodate all analytical balances. The enclosures are constructed of chemical-resistant metal framing and 1/4-inch-thick clear tempered safety glass side panels and viewing sash. Efficient airflow design with airfoils and bypass directs airborne particulate to baffled exhaust, providing superior airflow and containment performance for user protection. The viewing sash is angled 15° for ease of viewing comfort with 8-inch reach in opening height. The sash swings up to provide 20 inches of access opening. Two service ports are located in the lower right and left rear wall. The ergonomic design provides added user comfort.

Low-Temperature Coolers

Cooling of liquids to temperatures as low as -100°C

PolyScience, Niles, Ill, offers a line of low-temperature coolers that provide rapid, low-cost cooling of liquids to temperatures as low as -100°C. Available in both immersion probe and flow-through styles, these compact systems are suited for cooling exothermic reactions, freeze point determinations, freeze drying, impact testing, lyphilization, and vapor and solvent trapping. Used for trapping, Dewar-type applications, and the rapid cooldown of small volumes of liquids, PolyScience Immersion Probe Style Coolers reduce the expense of using dry ice or liquid nitrogen and are capable of reaching temperatures as low as -100°C. A flexible hose allows convenient placement of the cooling probe. Seven different models as well as a variety of probe types are available. These coolers also offer an economic alternative to tap water cooling of heated circulating baths when rapid cooldowns or operation at or near ambient is needed.

Diaphragm Pumps

Transfer dose neutral or corrosive liquids

SIMDOS® 10 Series diaphragm pumps from KNF Labs, Trenton, NJ, offer solutions to transfer dose neutral or corrosive liquids quickly and easily in the lab. A user-friendly display combined with a touch-control knob allows for simple and intuitive setup and operation. The pumps can be calibrated precisely in minutes and, following calibration, can maintain reliable repeatability at +/- 1%. These pumps transfer liquids with a flow rate of 1 mL/min to 100 mL/min and dose volumes from 1 mL to 1000 mL. Pumps are effective against pressures up to 90 psig and transfer viscous media at a full flow rate of up to 150 centistokes. The maximum handled viscosity is 500 centistokes at a reduced flow rate. Integrated software permits transfer and calibration parameters to be modified for a range of different viscosities at the touch of a button. SIMDOS 10 pumps can run dry without damage, are self-priming up to 9 feet of water, and available with a variety of wetted materials, including corrosion-resistant PTFE/FFPM. For added safety the pump head is situated outside a splash-proof IP-65 housing.
