Geraldine Ferraro, the first woman vice-presidential candidate on a national party ticket will be the opening speaker at CLMA’s annual ThinkLab Conference, sponsored by Orchard Software to be held in Tampa, Fla from May 2 to 5, 2009.

Ms. Ferraro, who was instrumental in the fight against proposed cuts in Medicare as a member of Congress, will offer her views on the future of healthcare as well as give her insights on the current political landscape and the challenges facing the new administration in Washington, DC.

“We felt that Ms. Ferraro would be a dynamic and topical speaker given her track record with healthcare as well as her experience on a presidential ticket and how it relates to the country’s intense interest in the most recent presidential election,” stated JoAnne Milbourn, CLMA President. “We’re very excited to have CLMA members join us for what promises to be a very exciting conference.”

The Clinical Laboratory Management Association’s (CLMA) ThinkLab Conference and Exposition is the largest educationally-focused meeting for the laboratory management community. The three and a half day conference and exposition is geared to laboratory management and future leaders in the industry.  More than 50 educational sessions are offered at ThinkLab, many being new offerings with an interactive focus, to enable attendees to stay current with the trends in the ever-changing lab industry while obtaining CEU’s. ThinkLab also features an exhibition floor with a wide range of industry vendors showing off the latest in laboratory equipment, products, and services. The ability to meet and network with laboratory managers and professionals from around the county is also a key component of the conference.
