According to an article at the UCLA Newsroom, University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) life scientists have discovered the H1N1 virus in animals in Africa. “In one village in northern Cameroon, a staggering 89* of the pigs studied had been exposed to the H1N1 virus,” the story reports.
In 2009, an H1N1 pandemic infected people in more than 200 countries. In the US, it was estimated that the virus caused 60 million illnesses.
