This company is now offering its line of GAP (Gastritis and Peptic Ulcer) tests used to detect antibodies specific to Helicobacter pylori, a recognized agent in the etiology of Type B gastric and peptic ulcers in humans. H. pylori weakens the protective mucous coating of the stomach and duodenum, which allows acid to get through to the sensitive lining beneath. Both the acid and the bacteria irritate the lining and cause a sore, or ulcer.
The kits use a simple ELISA microwell format to perform up to 43 patient samples in duplicate. Using highly purified antigens of H. pylori, the GAP system has negligible cross-reactivity against other Campylobacter species.
The GAP tests provide results within 1 hour and 45 minutes. Provided reagents include calibrators and controls to establish effective QC parameters. Shelf life of the kit is one year.
