The Oxoid PBP2’ Latex test is now available from this company.
This is a rapid latex agglutination test that has received FDA clearance for the identification of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and methicillin resistant coagulase negative staphylococci (MRCoNS). The test confirms the presence of PBP2’ (Penicillin Binding Protein, the protein encoded by the mecA gene) by latex agglutination. This method has demonstrated accuracy and reliability in the detection of oxacillin/methicillin resistance.
The Oxoid kit demonstrates 100 percent accuracy compared with PCR and yields clearly visible results in approximately 15 minutes.
