The CareSide analyzer is a proprietary point-of-care whole-blood system that performes up to eight tests at a time, while delivering results in four to 15 minutes. Tests include chemistry, electrochemistry and coagulation. A companion hematology analyzer does a CBC in one minute.
The desktop analyzer weighs 20 pounds and uses disposable test cartridges. Patient blood sample automatically mixes with reagents inside the cartridge.
The 38 tests represents the majority of high-volume, routine blood tests performed in the U.S. Software captures all required CLIA data. The touch-screen test order entry menu can be customized. Existing data capture fields include patient, physician and billing information.
