Ventana Medical Systems Inc, Tucson, Ariz, announced that it has been awarded the National Award for Manufacturing Excellence, which recognizes and honors organizations utilizing effective strategies and techniques to improve competitiveness and profitability. The award will be presented to at the annual AME conference in Chicago in October.
According to Ventana officials, 5 years ago they started working to become a leader in lean manufacturing within the biological environment, and the award is the result of lean systems methodologies and continuous improvement.
Ventana develops instrument/reagent systems that automate tissue preparation and slide staining in clinical histology and drug discovery laboratories.
