Two new low-cost tube holders are available for use with the Vacuette line of plastic blood collection tubes, or with any manufacturer’s evacuated blood collection tubes. The sterile tube holder with luer adapter and non-sterile disposable tube holder are designed to lower the cost associated with reusable tube holders, and meet the requirements for single use, disposable tube holders as defined in OSHA’s June 12, 2002 Letter of Clarification prohibiting the reuse of these devices.
OSHA policy prohibits removing contaminated needles from blood collection tube holders in order to reduce the dangers of needlesticks for healthcare workers and others who handle medical sharps.
This company’s new disposable products, the sterile tube holder with luer adapter and non-sterile tube holder, are available at a small fraction of the cost of most comparable standard tube holders.
