Camp-ID kit comprises three biochemical tests to permit speciation of the most commonly isolated thermophilic enteropathogenic Campylobacters. The tests are for hippurate hydrolysis, indoxyl acetate hydrolysis and urease activity and require pure cultures taken from selective/non-selective plates.
For epidemiological studies of common source outbreaks in a community, it is necessary to biotype different strains. An advantage of this system is that there are no non-typeable strains that do occur with serotyping and phage typing schemes.
